I was so tired, depressed, sick and busy for the rest of the week, that Week 5 ended with no Day 3. We were committed! We were trying! Seriously…. we kept on top of one another and were determined to go, even up until last night, when we both had plans and wouldn’t be free until 9:30 or so.
At that point, though, I just said “Screw it” and went to bed. I was so danged tired, I couldn’t be arsed to get my butt out there.
Woke up to a voice mail from MB saying that they too were kept at their Saturday plans later than expected and sorry for flaking and could we just run today as Day 3 and hopefully it wouldn’t screw us up too badly.
So, we did. Ran Week 5, Day 3 tonight and we’ll run a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule this week for Week 6.
Ran at The Parkway tonight. They put up the big huge tower that is covered with signage for the sponsers for the race! I saw it and got a little thrill. Was totally stoked to see it and might have danced in the seat a little bit. Maybe. A little.

Knocked 11 seconds off the pace from Day 2. MUCH better. And that is with my having the last dredges of sickness and with a four-day break for the both of us. Not too shabby, I’d say. I wouldn’t say that we’re ready, necessarily, but we’re getting there. We need to knock 26 more seconds off of our pace, and I’ll feel comfortable about doing the race.
We should be able to get there.
