Closer and closer we creep.
The other day, I had a little, bitty, tiny bit of blood and called the advice line just to ask them when I should be going in. I wasn’t too worried about it and figured it was just the beginning of my mucous plug loosening up (they confirmed that), but wanted to know when they wanted to see me in and if I should be worried. (I’m really sort of not, now that I’m all 35 and a half weeks and all. Another week or so, and lungs should be developed and we should be all good to go, no matter when we go!
I did have a realization though. I wonder if I really am going to go early, as I’ve been thinking, because, other than the little, teeny, tiny specks of blood, I haven’t really had anything even close to a contraction. No Braxton-Hicks even. Not even today after spending hours cleaning the kitchen, getting up on a ladder and creeping along the floor. (Cleaned the walls, cabinets, ceiling, oven - oh no. I’m not nesting at all.)
I remember having Braxton-Hicks contractions with The Girlie really early on and consistently. Of course, with her I went way, way, way overdue, so maybe this is an indicator of exactly nothing.

I had my baby shower at work yesterday, and that was nice. They all got us a gift card for one of the baby stores, so we went shopping last night. Jesse wanted to not spend everything, because we have our other baby shower next Saturday, but I wanted to at least get a diaper bag. I’m to that point now where I want to at least have our bags packed and ready to go.
So, we have a diaper bag, but it’s still not packed. (Of course, this is my point of excess, baby stuff wise. We’re registered for like three diaper bags. Five, if you count the little bitty ones, too.)
(Jesse had a funny dream last night. He woke me up this morning: “We cannot name the baby Carter.”
ME: “You’re right. Why would we?”
JESSE: “Because then the diaper bag would already be personalized.”
Then he rolled over and went back to sleep. Weird boy.)

Jessica is super excited too and we’re all just gearing up to get things done and have a baby here.
Of course, there is a list of things still to do:
1. Finish cleaning house. (You don’t want to see this list.)
2. Pack the diaper bag.
3. Pack the hospital bag for me.
4. Write out my birth plan (not going to be a big one, as I don’t want to be “that patient”. But there are some things that I do and don’t want to have happen that everyone needs to be on the same page about).
5. Get current with my scrapbooking. (Hahahahahhah!! Yeah, that’s going to happen.)
6. Get the paper from Cathy so that I can put together the announcements.
Wow, now that I’m actually trying to make the list, not that much is coming. I feel like there is a ton of stuff to do, though. Maybe that’s just because I am not putting the entire housecleaning list here. It’s a lot.
7. Wash my car, inside and out.
8. Write down our back-ups phone numbers so Jesse doesn’t have to go searching through the phone at all hours, if labor occurs at a time when we can’t get a hold of The Ex. (Black Friday is our main concern, but my number two back-up let me know, last week, that she will be back in town that day and another friend of mine let me know yesterday that she is available as well. So, we have four local people to call if The Ex is unavailable.)
9. Create a playlist on my iPod.
Yeah, that’s about all I can think of right now. Which I know is good. When I had that bleeding, I was a little freaked out over the fact that we didn’t even have a diaper bag and still don’t have a carseat, but I’ve calmed down a bit and figure we’ll be okay until next weekend. Whatever essentials (by my definition, not the crazy people at the Big Baby Store) we don’t get at the shower, we’re going to go buy on Sunday.
We cleaned a ton today, and there’s still so much to do, that I’m glad The Girlie is with The Ex tomorrow.
I am finished working on the 30th. My next appointment is on the 5th, then the 14th. After that, it’s the 29th, which is actually the day after my due date, so, yeah. We’re definitely creeping closer.
