Milestone
I have officially lost 100 pounds.*
I figured this momentous occasion called for something that I haven’t provided on this site thus far. A little photographic evidence:
Before, May 20, 2005 - Taken at our wedding rehearsal:
After, April 11, 2006 - Taken this morning:

I had Jesse retake this picture when he got home so that it wasn’t so blurry.
There are times when I can mope around the house, whining about the fact that I can’t see the difference. I’ll look in the mirror, see The Belleh and think about how much I have left to go (150, to be exact!) and it makes it really difficult to see how far I’ve come.
But let me take this time to officially say: I’ve come a damn far way, dammit!
Since June of 2005, I have lost:
100 pounds.
A total of 49.5 inches (that’s 4 feet!). That breaks down as:
- 4.25 inches from the fullest part of my bust.
- 4 inches from under my boobs.
- 5.5 inches from my waist.
- 12 inches from my hips. (WOW! I guess running will do that for you!)
- 7.5 inches from my old thigh measurement - 1/2-way down my thigh.
- 6.75 inches from my new thigh measurement (began in October of 2005) - right below my butt. This is where the WW book tells you to take the measurement.
- 2.5 inches from my old calf measurement - on a certain scar, which began moving as I lost more and more weight.
- .25 inches from my new calf measurement (began in March of 2006) - 1/2-way between my knee and ankle.
- 1 inch from my ankle.
- .5 inches from my wrist.
- 5.25 inches from my bicep.
I have lost 6 sizes in shirts and 4 sizes in pants. I have lost a shoe size and a half and two and a half ring sizes.
I am currently on Week 6 of the Couch-to-5K program, which means that I am able to run/jog 20 minutes in a row. (I feel like I’m going to die, but I can do it!)
Since October of 2005, I have gone 105.46 miles on the treadmill.
I am 22 percent of the way to my goal of moving my butt 350 miles in 2006.
I am seriously addicted to crossing my legs and to putting my hand on my stomach as I drive to remind myself of how much room there is between my gut and the steering wheel (before I start Weight Watchers, my gut hit the steering wheel).
I am 33.333333333 percent of the way to my personal weight loss goal. It’s been a long time since I said “I only have to do what I’ve done X amount more times!” in order to keep myself motivated. Well, now it’s 1.5 more times. I only have to do what I’ve done one and a half more times before I hit my goal weight.
I have lost more than twice what Hexe weighs (44-47 pounds, depending on time of day and what she’s wearing). I have lost two of those Costco size bags of cat litter. Yeah, the one that I had serious trouble lifting into my trunk the other week. How in the heck did I carry the equivalent of two of those around with me all the time? I don’t get it!
I have shrunk out of practically every single piece of clothing that I ever owned. (There are some concert tee’s that I’m not back into yet.) I weigh less than I did when I got married the first time and I think I might weigh less than when Jesse and Cameron met me. We’re talking years and years and years here.
And even though I have a huge list of goals to hit, a big list that has gotten me here, obviously, this has been the most important goal so far. 100 pounds. It’s big. It’s a huge accomplishment and I’m really incredibly proud of myself.
You bet your ass I am.
*Officially by My Home Scale. I still have two pounds to go to hit it on the Weight Watchers Scale.
